Mood 9
“AND I BET THERE ARE THOSE WHO HAVEN’T BEEN TOLD…
Who always stepped and stopped away from what smelled rotten,
fresh soil and dirt under fingernails.
So here I’ll come to tell you that growth
feels like dirt.
It feels terrible for a bit but, then your heart starts to move in ways different than before,
And you find your capacity for joy, for weight, for vulnerability,
becoming a bigger bowl than before.
If once ago you ran from something bright and beautiful because you felt frightened,
because it made you feel, here I am to poke you.
next time you find something, someone beautiful,
try staying and finding why, what, from when,
Till you’re able to stay close to every beautiful thing you find.
I’m alive, green growth and digging dirt.

If you want to hear the colors of this mood, here is the playlist that sounds like dried flowers. Mood 9 is the smell of dirt in a greenhouse, watching the sun set out a window, listening to music on a subway car. It is being quiet and content and clean and alone.
