Mood 11

“twenty three and having middle school sleepovers …

Dancing in the street in twenty-three degrees,

Snow drifting lazily down and she has never ever ever had eyes more wide,

Flash reflecting around her on drops of white.

Twenty-three and drifting effortlessly through the things that used to send her spiraling.

Twenty-three and I am twenty-three and I am

Spinning dreams around my limbs, and waiting

Wishing, wanting, waiting again,

For a pair of eyes who won’t look away when I start to shine

Twenty-three and sometimes she is lonely,

But sometimes she dances in the street.

Sometimes she stares after him and thinks he is unlike anyone she has ever met, but

Sometimes she just has middle school sleepovers at twenty-three.

If you want to hear the colors of this mood, here is the playlist that sounds like walking through a museum. Mood 11 is studying Socrates with candles burning, drying flowers in your closet, watching snow fall. It is staying up all night giggling or waking up at dawn to study ancient artifacts.
